New to Lugers....
 

I, like many, plan to purchase my first Luger soon. I am looking for a decent gun as a shooter. I was wondering if the manufacturer's codes are similar to the K98 rifle codes specifically Mauser? I have a K98 thats a Mauser marked S/42. Are the S/42 Lugers Mausers as well and did they change to the lettering codes at the same time as the rifles?
