Question
![]() I have a Luger reciever (bare reciever, no bbl)that has on the left side; crown, crown M, crown M. The first crown has been stippled out with a punch, leaving the CM, CM. The chamber is dated 1936. No markings on the right side. The only other mark is 01 on the recoil lug. I know this started out as an Imperial Navy reciever. What happened after that? An early Nazi rework? If so, why no Waffen-Amt stamps? Comments please

Re: Question
![]() The 1936 date on your receiver and the Imperial Naval proofing certainly don't belong together. I suspect that one or the other is bogus. If Mauser had reworked the Naval receiver for use in 1936, they certainly would have removed the previous proofing. I once had a 1939 like this which was strickly Waffenfabrik USA.

Re: Question
Waffenfabrik USA, now THAT is good! I have always thought there should be 'polite' term to describe just that aspect of the genre known as Luger collecting.
