1916 --1920
 

Hello guys. I just purchased a 1916 Doubledate Lugar. It has 1916 and also 1920 on the top of the barrel. It also has 1916 on the side of the gun. The markings are a crown over the letter M which I thought was a Navy model but it only has a four inch barrel. Searle number is 1094 also there are no markings on the right side of the gun. All the numbers appear to match the grips are walnut it also had a holster and an extra mag.I will try to send pictures any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. mike

Mike, Many Navies and Artillery lugers had their barrels shortened or rebarrelled to 4" after WW1, so I'd consider this a righteous depot Weimar rework. The 1920 marking above the 1916 on the chamber is not really a date, but indicates that this was one of the 100K guns allowed to the Weirmar army by the Versailles tready. TH

You have an Imperal Naval Luger, rebarreled to a 4" model, during the Weimar period and looks Army as no police sear safety is present....sounds like a jewel

I forgot to mention a couple of things, it's a DWM and it also has the numbers 0.1564 on the front of the hand grip. It came with a holster made by brocker 1938 and also an extra mag with an alluminum
button. I paid $550 for it, how much do you feel it is worth? Thanks for your help. P.S. I am sending 3 more pics. Mike

ADMIN, ensure you leave a "return" after each picture, that way it makes a proper url and if you want to make it a picture to show up, then add [img] and [/img] to each url front and back.

It is really a simple procedure to post photos but most are apprehensive to try it. Good job.

and now for an undocumented photo technique.

When the photos are large in format as you have posted, it is often good to use thumbnail images that can be clicked on to reveal the full size photos... but this is a tricky edit.

Once you have created the post the way you want it to read, you may edit it ONCE and ONCE only to replace the photos with thumnails...

The not so secret method involves replacing the UBB codes for displaying a photo "img" in between these brackets [] that precede and follow each photo URL... with the word "thumb"

One you hit the Post Reply button, the server will automatically insert thumbnails for your photos... but if you made a mistake, and need to go back in and fix it you will find that the UBB code syntax now looks like a nightmare and if you re-edit it, you will turn your post into garbage...

ALSO are these navy reworks rare,and what dose the # on the front grip mean? thanks mike
