HELP IDENTIFY P-38
HI,
HAVE INHERITED P-38 FROM UNCLE AND WOULD LIKE TO IDENTIFY. MARKINGS: P.38 cyq 8289 X below barrel 8289 X space small 88 above trigger on reverse side * small 88 then eagle then smaller 88 black or really dark brown handle grips 2 magazine clips with jvd marking 1 clip has 8 9mm r-p bullets with copper tips leather holster stamped bla with 1944 underneath about 1/2" down is an eagle with WaA158 under eagle.Holster black with white stitching,magazine holder and steel post to secure strap. Would like to know value and details of pistol and the best way to sell it. Thank you for your help. Bill G |

Your SPREEWERKE ( CYQ ) P-38 sounds correct to me. They were made in Berlin and usually are less finished than Mauser / Walther P-38's. Your pistol is late 44 production ( from memory...) JVD mags are correct. Eagle 88 is the SPREEWERKE Waffenampt. Like John said, try the sister forum...
