Black Widow
I sometimes see the term "Black Widow" used to describe a Luger. I have 3 Luger books, but no definition in any of them for this term. What is a Black Widow Luger? Thanks, Gringo Ed

It just means that it has black bakelite grips instead of walnut. Supposedly, the term "Black Widow" was coined by Ralph Shattuck. Ralph's a dealer and collector located in Arizona. For more information search the forum for "Black Widow", this topic has been discussed many times.

If I am correct, a "Black Widow" as well as the black grips, has the trigger, take down lever, and safety lever blued rather than strawed.

That is correct unspellable... the so-called BW guns were made from late 1940 thru some part of 1942, and Mauser stopped strawing military Luger parts during the middle of 1937.

My information is to the effect that Mauser stopped production of parts sometime in June of 1942. Some pieces were assembled from parts after this.
