Hopefully I have uploaded the picture properly. I have a luger that has three identical proof marks on the right side of the frame, no others. It also has no chamber date. Anybody have any ideas?

These are Simson military surplus parts proofs, noted on 1933 reworks of WW1 military and commercial models, as per Costanzo's World of Lugers, Proof Marks, page 109, proof #148.

BlindJim, please post more pictures so we can all see if the barrel was a period replacement or a WaffenfabrikUSA job. Things like this are interesting to us all. I doubt that the barrel was a Simson replacement, but who knows?

It was advertised to me as a "Naval Luger" - but as little as I do know - I knew alone "a six inch barrel does not a naval luger make". Will try to get a picture of the whole gun up soon.

You are right, BlindJim. If you have been following posts both on this Forum and Still's, you would be aware that authenticating Navy Lugers is a science into itself, with much faking and "quicksand" awaiting the newbie and wannabe collector, especially with 1917 models. Does your Luger have the proper Navy rear adjustable site? Those Simson proof marks would be VERY suspect for a Navy, and C/M proofs should be on the left side of the receiver. Looking forward to your pictures.

Mr Fisher: it does not have the proper site for a naval model. When I bought it, I bought simply as a Luger, and took the naval part with a very large grain of salt.

BlindJim, it sounds like you have a very nice shooter that will be the envy of the shooting range. Accept it as such and have fun. A 6 inch barrel Luger is a great shooter, great balance and feel. Hopefully you paid a shooter's price.
