1916-1920

have a luger with 1916 -1920 sn is 8058 DWM has eagel
inside off grip metal is ground off could this luger
have been in ww1 then police service then back in ww2

Edward Tinker 09-11-2003 02:50 AM

Yes, this is very possible. But unless it has police markings, acceptance, sear or magazine safeties, then it is hard to prove it was a police.

Many WW1 guns saw weimar, than WW2 service, the 1916 is when it was first made, then the 1920 is the property marking of the Weimar gov't.

Can you tell us any markings on the gun?

Proofs? (see on your left under tech information if you came through www.lugerforum.com) Tell us what and where proofs and markings are located.

There are forms in this section, where you can print out and then write down pertinent information.

What serial number is on the gun? To include any letters next to or under the serial number?

Can you provide pictures, to include side, top, etc., ?

I collect the Weimar Police Lugers, so they interest me very much.

VW, if you have pictures on your computer, you can go to the help section;
http://forums.lugerforum.com/cgi-bin...;f=11;t=000072

and you can post the pictures yourself, or if there are just a couple of pictures, send them to me via e-mail.

Lack of sear and or mag safety, and grip strap marking, this is not a police.

I concur, not a police Luger...

and the gap where the sideplate fits to the frame (looking from the top) doesn't seem to be very good... looks like it has been filed on the back side instead of being flush with the receiver...

Could this be the trigger lever not fitted in place correctly?? Vwcut you need too look at fixing this

vwcut 09-11-2003 11:13 PM

I took the side plate off and removed the trigger and put it back. It goes in ok but the side plate doesn't fit snug against the top. Could it be warped? Remember this the one piece that doesn't match the gun. Could I buy a different side plate and fix the problem? Also when I had the toggle back I noticed the letter "w" on the inside of the part of the toggle that the rear sight is on. Maybe this can help to identify the luger. I am new at this as this is my first luger please bear with me. Thanks for your help, Mike

yes, you see them on e-bay and Tom Heller usually has some for sale, as does Jim E.

You can also check Sarco and some of the other parts guys in the links and resources section.
