Dry firing vs easing striker down

When I put my (unloaded) Luger away, I've been pulling the toggle back until it's just into the spring tension--then pulling and holding the trigger while letting the toggle go forward easy. I do this to get the striker into it's "fired" position without dry firing the gun. Kind of like holding the trigger while closing the bolt on a bolt action rife. Is this a proper technique to use on my Luger?

Thanks all for a fantastic web site--I learn more everyday!

Doug, that's the proper way to do it, and welcome to the forum.
