????? When it was made

I have a 7.65 Luger sn32xx with the cursive m. It is a DWM has the crown over N proof marks on bbl frame and toggle, GERMANY stamped on right side of frame, other than last two digits of sn on parts there are no other markings that Iam aware of. Can any one tell me the approximate date of mfg. Does not have the date stamped on top of chamber, should it be stamped there?

I appreciate any info you may be able to offer.

Re: ????? When it was made

No date stamp, you have a 1920 Commercial I suspect. Military models generally have the date stamp and Commercials do not. The barrel will be a little less than 4" (measured from muzzle to front of the breech block)The Crown N is a Commercial stamp. The GERMANY stamp is an export stamp from GERMANY for commercial sales. Still's book will approximate the date, but mine are at home and I am at work! THOR

Re: ????? When it was made

An easy way to estimate the date of manufacture on these commercial guns is:

i suffix is 1921

no J suffix used

K suffix is 1922

L suffix is 1923

M suffix is 1924

Your gun was make in late 1923 or 1924.

Re: Unless...

...it retained its original military serial number. In which case it could have been made in 1916, 1917, or 1918. With the 1920 Commerccials there isn't really any way to know for sure :-(

Best regards,

Kyrie
