Scanner Picture

I'm going to upload a picture for the first time, so thought Newbie forum would be an appropriate place to try it. This image was made by laying the Luger directly on the scanner glass, as suggested by John Sabato. Worked beautifully! Pistol is 1918 DWM.http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/LugLeftSmall2.jpg

Very nice scan Jerry.

What magazine is in it?

Looks nice as does the gun!

Jerry, real good scan. It looks exactly like MY 1918 DWM, check that serial number LOL.

Ed and Herb,
Thanks for the kind words! Magazine is unmarked wood-bottom that came with the gun. It has proper looking plated sheet-metal body, round spring and, examined closely, looks old.

The gun is a shooter - but nice. I got it at a gun show a few months ago, when I knew nothing about Lugers or collecting. All metal parts match except holdopen lever (I've had it all the way apart). Grips aren't numbered to the gun but are definitely old. Finish is rust blue to best I can determine, but it seems too perfect and frame doesn't look lily white inside. Strawing is very clean but not 100%. Bore and rifling are flawless. Proofs and many other details are right for a 1918 DWM military.

Herb, I know you were kidding, but SN is 8227h.

Yea, just kidding. Mine is also all matching x-cept the mag which is a nickel plated wood bottom. The inside is mostly not blued x-cept the rear frame well. The grips have the last two inside. The suffix is also an h. I have always wondered why all the talk about the g and k date Lugers, you never hear much about the other suffixes, why, what is so special about the g and k?
