1917 DWM grip number 9

I have 2 1917 dwm 08's one has a large red number 9 on the left lower grip what does this signify?
I also need 1-sideplate and 1-lockbolt.

thanks

The large red nine was carved in the grip to indicate the caliber. The order was intended for broomhandle mausers to avoid the accidental loading of 7.63 mauser ammo in 9mm mauser guns, but some enthusiastic armorers applied the order to some artillery Lugers... that grip so marked was likely on an artillery luger or the gun may have once sported an artillery barrel and got reworked.

Luger parts are available from several sources, I recommend you place your 'wants' in the Wanted Forum, and you will get a few responses from those that have them... if by some chance you don't, get in touch with Tom Heller (Lugerdoc) and he should be able to fix you up with the parts you need.
