"1920" Receiver Marking Questions

Today we picked a Luger from the vet who brought it back from WWII. From what I can tell through this site it is a military gun. The top is stamped "1920" (in addition to its numbers and other marks). I have read that this is called a "property" mark. My questions are: does this influence the value of the gun? Is this an uncommon or common thing? The only other mark besides the "DWM" is the four digit seriel number followed by a crown over an "N" and all the small parts being numbered in the last two digits of the big number and sort of a fancy "M" in a couple of places. We don't get too many of these and I want to know what to call it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Really need more detailed info, the 1920 property mark will not detract from its value, and it is I would say, not a rare "proof" mark. Sounds like either a Wiemar period police or military weapon. Can you post a few pictures? it would help us all.

Thanks for the reply. We actually decided to just list the gun for sale without any reserve. It is on Auction Arms - auction #5487389. We figured it would be the fastest and fairest way to get it into the hands of a true collector based on our limited knowledge of the gun. If anyone would like to post a comment here about the gun, we would appreciate it. It is always nice to learn as you go. Thanks again!

Intereting pistol. I wonder if the two little pieces on the side that are missing are otherwise available?
