Luger Rifle
 

According to the 2002 Standard Catalog of Military Firearms,on page 135 they show a picture of a Luger Rifle auctioned in 1999 for $167,500. It says George Luger received his patent for this gun in 1906. I'm wondering if this was a one of a kind protype...or if some of these rifles found their way into the production line.

There was a discussion of this a couple of months ago, do a search for Luger rifle, I don't remember the specifics, I know several were made, I "think" production, but I forget :D

I seem to remember seeing one on a European Auction or a Collection Sale of some sort.
It also seems that a fairly large sum of money was placed on the rifle.
Can't place where or when, But I think that the rifle was reputed to have been used in the WW-1 youth rifle training program.

The Luger Rifle serial #4 came out of the Interarms (UK) Collection in 1996 and was auctioned by Christie's of London for $250k. I few year later, it was auctioned by Butterfields and it fetched around $150k.

Not related to the Luger rifle, but,...

Recall seeing a photo, in the V. Bobba swiss luger book, of a light machine gun the Swiss made in the 1940's at W+F Bern utitlizing the luger toggle mechanism...

Will look for this and scan it for posting, later this evening...

I finally remembered this toggle actioned rifle, page 134 of Parabellum by Bobba. The caption under the picture calls it a sub-machine gun Furrer, designed in the 40's also for use on air-crafts.

If you go to the hot link I listed in my previous thread, those knowledgable Swiss gun folks there point out that Bobba's photo and his text description are not correct (in relationship to each other...).
