My Frankenluger
Thanks to everyone for the help on my Luger. Here is a picture of my Luger. The barrel is 6 3/4 inches to the shoulder. I thought that 6 inch barreled Luger where about 6 inches even. The second set of grips are the ones that came with it. http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfuploa...ankenluger.jpg

John, the 6" or Navy Luger barrels are 120mm (6"+-) nominally and that is measured to the breechface from the muzzle. Any object that can be placed down the barrel without scratching the bore, with the gun safe and unloaded of course, can be used to measure the actual barrel length.
Your Luger looks to be an Imperial (WWI) DWM or Erfurt that was rebarrelled at some time in its history. Is the chambered dated? Does it have a Crown over N on the left side of the receiver in front of the side plate? I also appears to have been highly polished at some point. Interesting grips (the gold colored ones) |
CAREFULLY Squaring the rear sight notch, and replacing the front sight with the sight from a P38 that has a square rather than a pointed blade and has the same dovetail will improve the sight picture BUT please make sure we are not dealing with an historical pistol before we start using a file okay? :)
