5" barrel custom Luger

Many of you have seen a scan of this Luger before, but its taken me two years to come up with pictures which even begin to approach how this gun actually looks.

Its a mismatched rework shooting Luger, 5" barrel by Tom Heller, refinish by Thor, ivory grips by someone named Frank Pincer, magazine base courtesy Russ Withem.

The gun is glossy, jet black, very much like obsideon, and the ivory grips--parchment-white when I got them, beginning to yellow from use--make it nearly impossible to get an adequate picture. I still haven't managed to show that the strawed parts are high-polish golden yellow. Its staggeringly accurate to shoot and the trigger is about as nice as a Luger gets, one of the reasons I picked this frame for the project.

The grips are extremely finely-layered, highh-grade ivory. They are signed on the back "Carved by Frank J. Pincer, St. Paul, Minnesota". Anybody ever heard of this person, can someone identify a time frame for their manufacture?

Dwight, you're too hard on yourself; the pictures are pretty darn good IMO. It's also a VERY nice looking Luger. I think a 5" barrel is almost the perfect length and I wish more were available. I have an Artillery receiver with a cut-off barrel that would be great to have rebarreled with a 5" tube.

Anyway, that's one fine-looking shooter that should turn a lot of heads at the range.

Those of you looking for quality New Luger barrels in various lengths... have patience... They are in your future.

... just remember you heard it here first... :)

The keyword in my statement above regarding the coming availability of New Luger barrels is "quality" not "inexpensive"... the two don't co-exist... stay tuned!

Very nice Dwight. The contrasting colors are vivid and go well with each other. I am sure there are people on the forum that hate modified guns, but I guess they can just bypass this part of the forum! :D

Very nice pictures Dwight, I'd love to see it in person.

I forgot to mention Dwight... it's a fine looking Shooter! I really like the plain ivory grips. I have never cared for ivory with engraved or carved designs.
