Orimar Stainless lugers

Hello,
I am new to this forum. I have been a handgun enthusiast for a number of years and have recently become interested in Luger pistols. I am interested in purchasing a good/reliable 9mm Luger shooter (not a collectors piece). I am wondering how the Orimar Stainless Lugers perform. Are they reliable and accurate? Would you'll recommend them as a good shooter? Would I be better off buying a older more traditional Luger? I don't want to spend more than $700-$800 for a reliable shooter. Also, any suggestions on where/how to purchase the stainless luger? Can I order one directly from Orimar? Do they have a website, or perhaps a catalog I could browse? Also, any recommendations on factory ammo to use? I've heard that Lugers work better with hotter loads. Finally, how difficult are Luger pistols to field strip, clean, and maintain. I apologize for my ignorance, but everyone's a novice at first. BTW, this is a great looking forum! Thanx.

Hello! I am quite new to this forum also. I recomend that you read all the posts in the new members forum and the Post WW II forum to answer most of your questions. This will also answer many questions you haven't thought of yet. Cheers!

Riffraff is right on! Lots of good info here, explore around, use the search faeture for assorted words and phrases.

Welcome Jerry! :) I don't have one of the newer ones, but was tempted to buy one at the Reno show,

Welcome to our happy little group.

The Orimar guns can be ordered directly from them. Check out the Links and Resources to the left and take Riffraffs advise and check out the Post WWII section.

I have two of these guns and like both. The 9mm works great with S&B ammo and I have found a commercial reloader for .30cal. The factory tests with .30cal Winchester but it is expensive and hard to find.

They are at the top end of your price range new but around here, even a shooter grade vintage runs about $500 or more. For about $200 more you can get a brand new pistol. Then the addiction starts! To paraphrase the old potato chip add "bet you can't own just one!"

Hi nero!
DFW Arms has the s.s. lugers for shipment to your FFL holder. Thier ph# is 817-459-2122, ask for Wolfe(?).

I just called DFW yesterday and they do have a 4" stainless in stock, however they want $795.00 for it and if you order it from Orimar it would only be $695.00. But I have had alot of trouble contacting Orimar directly.

Send them a fax request to order to the same number as their voice number... it serves dual duty. I understand that they respond faster to a fax...

Thanks for your replies, I appreciate your responses. Can any of you stainless Luger owners tell me what kind of reliability/performance you've had with them? Any problems/issues to be aware of? Thanx.

I received an E-mail from R Romo today and it appears that their phone number and address have changed to:

Orimar Corp
PO box 8767
Houston,TX
77249-8767

(713) 305-8540

R Romar stated that they were on vacation for the last 2 weeks that's why they were late responding to E-mail or answering phones. The 4" SS 9MM luger cost's $695.00 plus $30.00 S/H. They will ship on receipt of funds and FFL.
