6" Interarms Luger Holster...

A few photos of a 6" Interarms holster I was able to pick up to "rig" my 1970's 6" swiss-style Mauser luger.

Grip rework "magic" done by LF member, Hugh Clark, in 2002.

Does anyone know who made these holsters for Interarmco ?

Regards,

Pete...:typing:

Nice holster Pete, I like it,

Pete, this is purely a guess but there's something about the holster that reminds me a lot of the holsters made by the now-defunct "Bucheimer" (Sp?) company that was located in Frederick, MD.... about 50 miles or so from Interarms' HQ in Alexandria, VA. I've owned a few of their holsters over the years as I could go to the company outlet store and get them cheaply. Not "bad" holsters but certainly not top of the line by any means.

Hello Pete,
I have an holster like yours for an Interarms Parabellum with 4" barreled Luger. I am going to put some pictures soon
Ciao

Doubs, the design may be similar, but I see a quality in this holster that I never saw in any Bucheimer holster I ever examined... they were functional... not very pretty. I think this one is NICE...

This one looks more like Bianchi or Safariland in orgin to me...

just my $0.02

Pete Ebbink 03-30-2004 05:19 PM

John S. is correct. The quality of this work is very high. Only complaint I may voice is that the leather gauge was a bit thick and it makes for a piece that is not very supple and flexible.

I did not want to force my 6" Mauser cleaning rod all the way down into the rod pouch...as it seems very stiff...

I was very pleasantly surprised when I noticed the color of the holster matches the color of my wooden grips fairly well... :D

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Pete,
If you want to add the cleaning rod to your rig, you will need to wet form the cleaning rod pouch. It isn't hard to do and the leather in the holster is new enough that it won't harm the holster. You don't have to soak the whole holster, just the pouch. Apply the water in small amounts with a sponge until the leather is soft and workable.

Guys,
here the pics of my 4" Interarms holster.

Mauro, does your 4 inch holster also have the cleaning rod pouch like Pete's?

Pete Ebbink 03-30-2004 08:31 PM

Hello Ron,

Thanks for the tip on wet-forming. I think I will 'chicken out' on this as I would be afraid of water-staining any of the leather...

Hello Mauro,

Now we need to find a 8" big brother to our two holsters... :D You and I can have a foot-race to see who finds one first...

Pete's holster does show a higher quality than most Bucheimer products although they could make some decent stuff if required to. They primarily sold utilitarian holsters and leather gear. I have a fairly nice pistol rug that I bought new cheaply because the suede has a flaw. It's served me for many years and I expect it will for many more.

It's really a shame that the holster maker didn't identify themselves in some way.

mauro 03-31-2004 05:41 PM

John,
yes, the 4" holster has the cleaning rod pouch as does Peter's.
Do you know if this holster was produced also for 8" barrel? I am not so sure.
Ciao
Mauro

John Sabato 03-31-2004 06:00 PM

Sorry Mauro, but Pete's holster was the first of this type I have ever seen... and yours was the second.

Does anyone else know if there was an 8 inch model of this holster produced?

Hello Guys & Dolls,
Sch¶n Tag

I dug this information out of the depths of where my Parabellum P.08, 6" Barrel, 9mm never fired except for test target is stored since it was being discussed. I purchased the pistol in 1976 along with the holster like Pete's, two extra magazines, extra pair of grips, extra cleaning rod, extra takedown tool and a bunch of spare parts. My intention at the time was purely to invest in something that would increase in value with my age.
All images come from an Interarms July 1, 1975 Price List & Catalog.

I hope this information is helpful. I like to contribute when I can since I enjoy the Luger Forum very much.

I need to learn how to thumbnail the images. Can someone point me to the directions for doing this?

Pete Ebbink 04-01-2004 03:25 AM

Hello Chester,

Thanks so much for the great, informative posting. Looks like a 8" holster model was not offered.

I wish I had paid only $ 34.00 for my 6" holster. I had to pay $ 500...oh well...some of you guys in the 1970's were very smart buying when you did.

To do the "thumb nail" thing...go into the "edit" mode of your posting. Replace all "IMG" with "Thumb". But do not forget...once you thumb your posting, you cannot go back in and edit any text. It will screw up the links to your photos...

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Hello Pete,

Thank you for the easy instructions on how to thumbnail. I knew if I asked, I would get an answer.

mauro 04-01-2004 04:52 PM

Hello Chester,
thank you for the interesting information.
Please can you send me a high quality scan of the page with the holster.
Thank you.

Hello Mauro,

I would like to send you a high quality scan but I am not sure if I can. I only have one scanner and I do not know if it could be called high quality. Please tell me what you had in mind and I can see what I can do. I would like to help, I just need a little more information on what high quality is.

Regards,

mauro 04-02-2004 02:19 PM

Hi Chester,
try to increase the resolution of your scan through the software. You have to set this parameter around 300 dpi (dot per inch). Note that I need only a zoom of the holster figure with the related caption. Save then the picture in the TIFF format and send it to me. The size should be less that 2Mb.
Thank you so much.
Ciao
Mauro

Hello Mauro,

I will see what I can do and you can be sure if I come up with what I think you need I will send it to you.
