Post Purchase Question - From New Member
 

I just purchased a Stoeger stainless Luger as a shooter ( a post stressful day - impulse purchase)...

It is in really nice shape and I paid $375...

Out of curiousity is this a resonable price for this pistol?

Looking forward to shooting it when it thaws up here in Vermont!

Hi James, I paid about the same price for mine a few months ago-it's a 1993 clean one owner and shoots well. I'll have to admit though, as eye catching as it is, it doesn't even begin to compair to my 1917 Eurfurt as far as serious fit/finish and "real gun" appeal. The stainless guns are what they are: beautiful reproductions. I plan to keep mine, but I also hope to obtain a few more "non reproductions". Enjoy!

Yes James, I think you got a very fair deal. Unless you are a collecter(have the collecter bug, etc.), this will probably be the only "Luger" you buy. Do not feel bad that you own what some may think of as an inferior gun. It looks good, if it shoots good with no jamming or functioning problems then you have a fine pistol. And for only $375.00, not $2000.00 for a "real Luger".

I agree that you got a good deal. A new one is currently priced at $694.00

I own two of them. A 6" 9mm and a 4.75" .30cal. Both are very nice to shoot and I think they look great.
Does yours have the original style magazine or are the sides flat? If they are flat, only those from Orimar will work but if yours have a rib down the side, any Luger magazine should work.

If you go to the Member Gallery on the left and then go to Page 10, you will find a number of pictures of different stainless guns.

Steve, my magazines have the flat saides so thank you for the heads up that they will not interchange with standard lugers...

Will normal replacement luger grips work on the Stoeger?

Its 45 degrees here in Vermont and I may run to the range for a quick Luger test...

I do not know the complete answer to your grip question. Both of mine have grip safeties and the safety is longer than that on my 1906 plus the stainless grip safety requires a cutout on both grips and not just the left. So the models with a grip safety are not interchangeable with vintage. If yours does not have a grip safety I do not know if it will interchange or not.

My 9mm likes Sellior & Bellot ammo the best. I get it at a local show for $5.50/50 so it is fairly inexpensive. That is what they test with at the factory in Texas.

Does yours have a date stamped on the chamber? How about a grip safety? Post some pictures if you can. If you do not have a digital camera, a flatbed scanner works just fine. We are always interested in more photos and John can add them to the stainless steel gallery.

I had a stainless stoeger and would never buy one again. Purchased it new and it literally fell apart when I shot it. I know I am now soured to these weapons(stoeger) but one bad gun. Though, I paid 500.00 for it, so if it shoots sound like an okay deal.

James, The Stoeger grips should interchange with the standard PO8, but as with any luger grips, some fitting maybe required. I do have a few new flat sided wood bottom mags available for this model @$40 postpaid. TH

The grips on my stainless are much thicker than my byf42 grips. As to whether they will interchange, I have yet to try...
