Interarms Mauser

I had been operating on the assumption that the Interarms Mausers came with 4 or 6 inch barrels. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was wrong about this when I picked up a 4 3/4 inch barreled NIB Swiss style at the gunshow on Saturday. I've always felt that a barrel around five inchs "looks right" on the Luger and it was never an easy length to come by.

I've never liked the grips on the Interarms Mausers. The checkering is a bit coarse, and even worse, the grips tend to be slab sided. Does any one know of any replacement grips for these?

I'd check with Hugh... he's defintely the replacement grip guru and I know he owns at least one of the Interarms type Luger.

John & Unspellable, I've personally not seen replacement Swiss-style grips offered by anyone. I feel certain that if anyone would know, it would be Hugh just as John has already said.

FWIW, the Mauser that Hugh bought at the gun show has the standard grip with the flare at the bottom front of the grip. He has pictures posted on the thread "Newest Gun Show Treasure".

Guys,

I had Hugh Clark do the following "magic" to my original Mauser-Interarms grips that were like wood working rasps :

This is my 6" bbl, 9mm shooter...

Regards,

Pete...

Pete,

Great looking grips, did Hugh make these from your original grips or did he make new ones?

I'd like to have some made, but I'd like to keep my originals.

Hello Tracy !

I am going from memory here...(Hugh Clark, jump in if I am worng...) :

1. Since my Mauser-Interarms is of the swiss-style front strap, Hugh had to use my factory originals for the re-checkering job; since no one makes repro grips for the swiss style.

2. If your Mauser-Interarms is of the P-08 style, I think Hugh could start with a set of repros and leave your original grips intact (in case you need another set of wood working files in your workshop...!).

Regards,

Pete... <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

Pete is correct, I have done two pair of '70 Mauser Swiss style grips like his. I sanded all the checkering off and recheckered with a border.

The regular style grip is also shaped a little different at the top and bottom, so that grips for earlier Lugers will not fit properly.

I know of no aftermarket grips for these guns.

I believe that Tom Heller bought all the spare parts for these guns several years ago, if anyone has grips for them it would be him.

I don't have the time to make grips from scratch. Well, maybe one pair, out of Ivory, FOR ME!

I have this vision of checkered Ivory Luger grips with a border... WOW... too much dreaming for one day. What gun would you put them on Hugh?

Hugh 08-27-2002 11:56 PM

<img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" /> John,

How would they look on one of these? <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Hugh, ivory would look fantastic on the long barrel pistol.

Edward Tinker 08-28-2002 01:15 AM

Nice Hugh, so if you put some Ivory on that antlered puppy, then I know someone that would be interested in those antler grips,

If Hugh would put a price on those antler grips, I would buy them myself.
