Pete
Couldn't find them on auctionarms.com. What category are they listed under? It is interesting that they are '70s production Mausers but they don't have the Swiss style takedown and safety levers that a lot of the new Mauser Lugers have. Beautiful guns. Must be asking a mint for them.

Ron,

Here is the link:

Thanks Wes. Wonder why I couldn't find them? Heckuva starting price! Will be interesting to see where it goes. I really like that gold line piece.

Ron,
Check your private post.

I have the original marketing literature on these somewhere, but even if I find it, I don't have photo sending capabilities. As I recall these were offered in the mid-1980 by a firm in King of Prussia, Pa. for about $2500 each, depending on the engraving coverage. These were the last of the Mauser Parabellums made and not marketed by Interarms. Tom H.

I've pined after the gold-line gun since the first time I saw it, to the extent of finding out how much it would cost to have that inlay job done (a lot!). Dok has expressed a fondness for it, too.

Ron, maybe if you and Dok and I got together and pooled out pennies we could at least have a timeshare Luger...

A timeshare Luger, now there is an interesting concept! I am afraid it would be like a timeshare pacemaker, only the guy who currently has it will be satisfied with the arrangement.

All,

I just bid on these guns. I intend to keep one only. Anyone interested in the other?

Tom A.

wterrell 09-26-2002 09:45 PM

50% of bid price? or what? And which one IS the other?

Well, I guess being a rumble strip on the information superhighway has struck again!

I have now bid $9K for the pair. I will keep whichever one I like the most, probably the white metal version, and will want to sell the other.

I will need a Virginia State Type 01 who won't rip me off and hopefully some other folks on this list who are interested in the other one.

If no one steps up, well, I guess I own both. A terrible problem to manage.

Hello Tom,

Glad someone is going after these beauties !

Since I sort of directed all to this auction, might there be a "finder's fee" ?

Maybe I can babysit the luger you do not like until you find a buyer...

Just kidding, of course.

Hope you win the auction. I am partial to the silver, engraved one, also...

Regards,

Pete... <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

All,

The insulting remark made in a previous post is a very good reason for me to question staying associated with this group.

I had a very long discussion with one of the "Grand Old Men" of Luger collecting yesterday. This gentleman has at least 12 pistols portrayed in Jan Still's books (He is in ALL of them)and he said he would not participate in the Forum for two reasons:

1, It appeared that many younger members wished to have their dealer-fed misinformation reinforced rather than dealing objectively and thoughtfully with facts, which would inevitably demonstrate they had been snookered;and,
2, The gratuitious rudness and lack of common civility that far too frequently flares up.

.I do not consider myself to be thin-skinned, but I do consider the remarks made in a previous post questioning my integrity and honesty to be insulting in the extreme and completely out of the blue.

I shall say no more on this subject except to suggest that there should possibly be a minimum age for forum participants.

Tom, I imagine you are refering to Wes's remarks and I took them as kidding, but if not, then he owes you a large and public apology!

Trust to many of us is important and to doubt it strikes at our core. You can call me many names, but my honor and therefor, trust of me is important.

I at first thought that it was a off-remark joking from Wes, but no smiley face or anything and I can see why Tom could feel this way.

I wanted to comment on your two points, but couldn't seem to get my point across, no matter how many times I re-wrote it, so will let alone.

wterrell 09-27-2002 08:41 PM

Tom A,

There was no insult intended.

As a postscript: your private post box is full to capacity or I would have posted a private message to you.

(again edited for content by poster. now I will shut the hell up)

Edward Tinker 09-27-2002 10:06 PM

I didn't know being young was an insult

But humility and saying, Hey, sorry, didn't try to "P" ya off would be better than NOT saying sorry.

<img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

So everyone play nice, this needs to be a good place for all to come and visit and have fun, learn something and we like to learn from the old guys, at least I do.

Tom,

I would truly be sorry to see you leave the Forum. Your patience and help with newcomers to the luger hobby would certainly be our loss.

I think one fellow a few weeks suggested we all think of oursleves on the Forum at being at a local gun club; sitting face-to-face, exchanging ideas and knowledge, and bragging a bit about our shooting skills.

Hope you stick around !!!

Regards,
