New Luger
I just bought a Mauser Parabellum that was made in the mid 70's. It's a 4" 9m/m with the Swiss style grip and safety, that came in a raggedy box, with 2 mag.s, a cleaning rod, but was missing the loading tool. It was unfired until today and I gave $800 for it. Was this a fair price in Ca.?
It shot well today (2" @ 25 Yrds. very near P.O.A.), using the same cast load I use in my Hi Power, with no malfunctions. I tried some lighter loads, but they would not reliably cycle every time. How do these compare with other Lugers? This is my first Luger and I wanted it as a shooter. Thanks. |
I think that your price was good. It was not the deal of the century but a fair price. I have a 6" and like it very much.
They are not in high demand at this time but that could change. I think that they make a great shooter. Get a loading tool and you will be set. I bought some reproductions from Marstar. They are not the greatest but they save the thumb and are cheap. Lugerdoc on this forum has originals for a fair price but needless to say, more than a reproduction. I also bought a couple of very nice blued ones from Orimar In Houston, Texas. They make the stainless steel Lugers but the loading tools I got are blued. Very well done and about the same price of the ones from Marstar which I do not think are nearly as nice. Is this your first Luger? Welcome to the forum! Steve |
Wecome to LF, I just sold an AE 4" 9mm P08 style here in the high desert area of Ca, for $875, one mag, mint condition gun....sounds like you got a fair deal, I'm not much on the Swiss pattern guns and the AE's bring a few dollars more, but all sounds good. Hope you enjoy the gun.

Welcome to the Lugerforum.
I think one of our members named "Pisto" (also known as "Pisto.lero" on ebay), and his first name is Roland... who hails from Germany, has some original Mauser marked loading tools... he sells them on ebay once in a while... send him a private message by clicking on the envelope icon on one of his posts... you can find one by using our search function and looking for his first name, since his signature block uses it... Congrats on your Luger purchase. |
John, Most of the Mauser marked loading tool that I've seen coming out of Euroland, are repros. I have these or the DDR ones available @$15 each or 2 for $25. Original post war Mauser Parabellum (larger banner) are also available @$40 each. TH

Here is the 1970's Mauser TD tool you should be looking for. I see them at gun shows for $ 35 to $ 60 or so...they are out there... http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfuploa...er_td_tool.jpg Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |
Hi,
Please note that a number of Mauser loading tools for the 1970s Mausers were supplied without the Mauser logo on them. |
