Baby Luger
 

I am kind of out of the loop, and I am curious as to what the heck is a baby luger. I have seen a couple for sale, one was a 32 cal and the other a 380 cal. Who makes them, and what are they worth?

I think that you are refering to the pistols made by Erma. They range from $150 for a beater to $450 for a NIB. I sold the two NIB Ermas for $450 each.

Art made a "baby" artillery, really sweet gun.

Hugh Clark makes them, has made 3 or 4? They sell for $1,500 or so I believe?

Others, such as John Martz has made babies, I think they go for $3,500 or so?

Then there are "real" baby Lugers, I know of two that exist, maybe more. Ralph Shattuck has one real one, and a copy if I remember correctly?

Silly little things, I want one bad... Thor is selling his right now, price is very reasonable.

So, are the Erma lugers any good? Are they collectable at all, or just kind of a novelty? I figure the ones mentioned above that are the expensive ones are high quality. So, how do the Ermas stack up with those? Also, thanks for the many replies.

The Erma's are ok at best. They are decent guns, but will not hold up to allot of shooting as would a real Luger. The .32 & .380 guns have steel frames, but the .22 models have aluminum or pot metal. I would say that if you want one to shoot occasionally ok, but not much more than that. Parts availability is another issue as these have been out of production for many years.

I appreciate the replies and private messages I got with this question. I am glad I found this forum as there are some good people here with a vast amount of knowledge.
