Mauro,
Do you know the signifigance of the Special Serial number RG 1000 ? Was this special order? Does the R.G. mean something? Is it possible that it stands for the Mauser collector Dr. Rolf Gminder? |
John,
as far as I know RG stands for Renato Gamba, Italian importer of Luger in that period. Gamba was in charge of HSc production in Italy, under Mauser license. I guess that the Italian market was not able to manage the entire Luger production foreseen by Gamba and so Mauser sold these pistols in other markets, mainly USA. The Luger RG sold in Italy had the chamber stamped with the Renato Gamba logo, an eagle over RG. Ciao Mauro |
Hi,
Mauro is right. Moreover, the deal with Renato Gamba consisted of Mauser selling Renato Gamba's 38 special revolvers under the Mauser brand name and Renato Gamba selling Mauser Parabellums with the RG brandname. |

Sieger,
well done. Beautiful Mauser Parabellum Commemorative. Also the serial number is very interesting: your pistol is the number 4 of 250! Please send me some pics of your new "baby". Ciao Mauro |
