Is there a way to post a real life photo of a member's face (very small photo), rather than the cartoon character each of us pick when we set up our User profile ?

Umm - yes. They are called "Custom Avatars" - and I'm working on setting up the code for that feature later tonite. It can be any picture and will "replace" the current "pictures". Since they are administratively set up - each needs to be uploaded to each "user" number..
