Historical Swiss B-L's...

Since Albert Beliard has come out and posted his photo in the Rogue's Gallery, I figured it would be safe to post this other photo...

If I recall it was taken at the Bern Museum in Switzerland in the 1995-96 timeframe...

What is significant (in addition to Albert's handsomeness... :D ) is what Albert is holding in his hands...

The two pistols are the 1898-1899 era Borchart-Luger pistols...No. 5 and No. 6. If I am correct, these are the two oldest pistols, existing, that began to develop into the luger as we know them...

No. 5 is on top and No. 6 is on the bottom...

Albert showed exceptional character...a lesser gentleman would have run down the street and not looked back...!

Lucky indeed Pete, dang, I would love to see one of those, let alone two!

Thank you Pete, but I look more handsome with my new glasses! Furthermore, in the above image I did not have any grey hairs popping out!

If you look very carefully, notice the different finish between both B/L pistols on the 'nipple' on the sideframe and the tiny safety lever. The differences can be seen better on the images posted on my web site.

Cheers,
Albert

Hello Albert,

As most of us are probably well aware, there are some fashion items from our pasts that we would all just rather forget...

I cannot believe I wore those stupid platform shoes like Elton John did in the late '70's and even wore a haircut called a "shag" (I think)...and just to think some young folks are rediscovering them in this century...

Just glad there are no photos of me in those days...

Thanks for not minding the posting of your photo. Just thought that moment in your luger career with those historical lugers should be shared with others...

Regards,

Pete...

I would be HAPPY to have a SHAG haircut Pete... but lately my scalp is protuding WAY above my hairline... when I retired from the army 15 years (feels like centuries) ago I told folks that I stood out in the sun too long and my hair melted and ran down my face...hence the beard.

...and Pete, I am still waiting for an updated photo from you to replace your mug shot! :D

Only to show the last (I guess!) Albert's glasses.
Seriously this is a picture I took inside my house in Paris in 2001 (I am on the left).
I would like to thank Albert for his friendship and for the help he provided to me for my book.
Ciao

Mauro,

I noticed in your LP-08 book on page 9, the English text of the caption below the same photo says Mauro is Albert and Albert is Mauro... :D

Actually, the English text says Albert is sitting to the right of the author...when he is actually on your left side on the sofa...

Great book and my wife is helping me with the Italian text translations...

Regards,

Pete...
