Different Swiss Muzzle Protector/Cover...
My luger friend, Guisan, is on holiday in Switzerland (CH) and was lucky enough to find this Swiss muzzle cover/protector...
He said we could post these photos on the Luger Forum to share with others...(he is a LF member, as well...). http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/differentcover.jpg http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/DifferentCover1.jpg Since this device has a small hole in the end, I do not think this is a true "cover" but rather a "protector" device. That is; when cleaning the muzzle with a metal rod/brush, this device would keep the cleaning rod from rubbing along the edges of the muzzle at the end of the barrel...(but I am speculating here...). How great would a 1-month luger hunting vacation in Switzerland be... Regards, Pete... |
Pete, Yes, very nice! I think you must be on the right track. It is quite heavy duty compared to the regular muzzle covers one sees. With the hole it only stands to reason...Jerry Burney

Interesting item.
Do you know if there are similar items for P08 and LP08. Ciao |
Hello Mauro,
I do not have an answer to your question,...sorry. I have sent to your private e-mail address the contact info for "Guisan". Thought you might want to make his acquaintance since he is a fellow European... Let us know if you find out if these muzzle protectors were made for 9 mm. barrels or not... Regards, Pete... |
Many gunsmiths in Switzerland had manufactured her own muzzle covers/protectors and other parts like sight adjusters for Lugers and Swiss Rifles.
Well made but not ordinance , no army marks /stamps or patent numbers like on the L¼thy cover are to find on these things. Stefan |
Hello Stefan,
And thanks for the informative follow-up info. on this muzzle protector/cover. Do you know if these were made in large quantities, or are they quite rare in CH ? Regards, Pete... |
They are hard to find ,Pete.
I think the L¼thi cover only was in larger quantities produced but I`m not a muzzle cover collector or specialist. The L¼thi cover was also not ordinance. You can`t find a genuine Swiss Army muzzle cover for Swiss Lugers. |
