Saw a 100% early Swiss today
 

In a private collection, and soon to be for sale. No price set. Ser# 6867, Large "P" and a "2"
on left front receiver. Cross in sunburst on the chamber. Dark walnut grips. Matching magazine.
I was so mezmurized by the condition that I did'nt notice anything else. Any ideas on what a value would be? I don't know much about Swiss lugers, so did'nt really know what to look for or at.

seems to be a early "cross in sunburst".
1900reds go until 5100.
But the magazine should be not numbered and have the metal discs.
Simpson�´s list is telling much about recent prices.

By "matching", I meant correct. Not numbered.
Force of habit, sorry. The magazine has the metal discs. It is the most pristine Luger I have ever seen. Absolutely beautiful.

Hi Ron,

The "P 2" stamping is unusual...typically if there is a release date it would be 2-digits...for example : "P 57" for a gun released to the Swiss soldier in 1957...

Was there a chance this 100% gun was refinished and one of the 2 digits was lost to over-ambitious sanding/polishing ?

Good M1906 DWM/Swiss Lugers seem to be going in the $ 2600 to $ 3500 price range...condition being everything...(original that is...).

I do not believe in the slightest, that it is a refinished. The markings were very sharp and crisp. It had a beautiful deep hue , as I have seen on other Swiss Lugers. If it was refinished. It had to have been done by someone as good as, if not better than Ted.
An amazingly nice pistol.Appeared unfired.

I trust you judgment when it comes to spotting an original vs. reworked guns.

But there are some good guys out there...way better than Ted's excellent work... :(

The odd question about "P 2" still remains...it cannot be a gun that was released in '02 (1902)since this gun is a M9106 variety...

But maybe it was released in 2002...???...but no...I think all luger were eventually taken out of service when the Sig's came in...

If you get a chance to see this piece again, could you take a photo of it and especially this marking...? You have certainly piqued my curiosity...

Pete, I intended to take my camera when I hooked up with him again, but it was a chance meeting and spur of the moment decision. So I did'nt have it with me.
I will try to contact him to see if he minds if I get photos of it.
I know the of collectors estate that it came from. I doubt that it's nothing but, 100% original.
