NAPCA AUTO MAG

I just got my new issue of AUTO MAG from the NAPCA. Some great pictures of our very own Tom Armstrong and his navy collection in there. Definately not enough pictures of his collection. Good picture of Derek Seltzer. Its nice to see pictures of people that we have talked to on the forum. There is a mention of a Jack Kemp. I wonder if that is the politician Jack Kemp. I don't think so though. I wish that I was there.

The author correctly identifies Jim Kemp one time and then reverts to "Jack Kemp".

John Sabato 11-05-2004 10:12 AM

I met Jim Kemp at the last show in Chantilly VA, ...nice guy...

luger11 11-05-2004 04:28 PM

To All..Jim Kemp is one the finest gentlemen I for one have ever met. He has probably the FINEST collection of Japanese Nambu pistoles and holsters that you could ever imagine to see. Both he and his lovely wife put on a tremendous display at NAPCA.

Norm...........That display was not my mentor Tom Armstron,s collection but a combination of the infamous "Cabal,s" collection of Naval artifacts.
And you are correct Ya shudda been there.
And by the way I am the "newbe" in the Cabal and the handsome gentleman standing with Derek is me.

To everybody,
I saw the picture where the gentleman was labeled as Jack Kemp. But sometimes pictures get mislabeled. I just curious if this was the politician/professional football player. Sometimes I am surprised at the celebrities who collect things.

I wish there were more pictures of all the naval artifacts that appeared on the tables. This could be one of the best assemblies of naval artifacts that may EVER be assembled in one location outside of some museum. Of course some more pictures of the attendees would be nice too.

I should have been there. I really look forward to meeting Pete, Tom and some others from the forum someday.

Hi Norm,

Did you see the photo album John S. created in the Member's Gallery ? I think he used photos both from Tom Armstrong and Tom Beasley...

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

I have a suggestion. Join NAPCA if you arn't a member allready. Come to the NAPCA Annual convention at the Missouri Valley Arms Collectors Show at the K.C.I. Expo Center show inKansas City January 8th & 9th, 2005. Bring your good stuff and we can all meet each other. I would love to meet each of you there. I went to the SE NAPCA show and I only knew 2 people when I got there Tom Knox and Harold Anderson. When I left I felt I had meet and made friends with a great group of Collectors. Don't be left out come to KC It will work for you too.

Pete,
when I looked at the Rouges Gallery, I was too mesmerized by John D's picture to notice anyone else. Great eyes.

How about some more information on this Missouri Valley Arms Collector Show. Since I'd be coming half way across the US - in the wrong time of the year!- is it worth it?

I used to attend the KC show; always lots of Lugers there. My pal Derek Seltzer and I won two of the 5 awards presented in 2001 for our Navy display.

Chuck Samuels, who is the HMFIC, is a great guy. No attitude problems encountered by show staff.

Following up on Frank H's question, does anyone know the distance from the KC airport to the show venue...? Is it close enough where hotels would have free shuttle bus services so some of us fair-weather folks would not need to drive in snow/ice ourselves...?

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

There are four hotels right accross the street from the facility. Off hand, there is a raddision, best western, quality, fairfield. At least the Raddison has airport transportation.

Small map and location of hotels.

Big Norm... Pete said you should look at the Member Gallery for pictures of the Navy Luger Cabal at the earlier NAPCA show...not the Rogue's Gallery... that is where YOUR picture is... :D

The Show is less than 1/4 mile from the airport. Basicly just accross the interstate. The show is a quality show no glassware etc. The show is giving 5 cash awards $1000.00 1st $750.00 2nd $500.00 3d,$250.00 4th $100.00 5th. There have been some fantastic displays in the past. I expect to see more in the future. Their web site is www.mvacagumshow.com check it out. If we all put out our best there it would be the best show in the USA. Thanks for reading. Bob Benson

Sounds like a heck of a show Bob, and I have this feeling I'd like to see your collection!

I will show you mine if you will show me yours. It sounds kinky but it's true. Mine is an eclectic Collection. I haven't displayed it in years but sence you asked I am now commiting myself to getting a couple of tables and putting it out For your approval. Also the correct site is www.mvacagunshow.com . I never enjoyed gum shows anyway. sorry. Bob Benson
