Mark: Nice!
![]() This is a nice looking P.08 Mark. It will be interesting to see the finished product when you get it done. I have a question for you. There appears to be some figures just above the serial #42753 on the trigger side plate. I tried to zoom in closer but I can't get a high enough resolution on the image to decipher whether it is just pitting, goughing or some kind of intended markings. Can you explain?
I also cannot get enough detail to identify those markings below the locking lug, so I can't really help you on that one. Regards; |
Re: Mark: Nice!
![]() Those above the serial number are crown/b and crown/u.

Re: Marc's DWM has been added...
Hi Marc,
Interesting Luger! It appears to have been made up from parts, possibly by a small shop. Note the serial number on the barrel extension is struck over the proof marks. Also, the side plate is from a Erfurt military; one can still see the remains of the its original serial number and the Erfurt inspection mark that were not buffed completely off. The digits in the serial number(s) were stamped individually, without the benefit of a jig, and as a result are poorly spaced and oriented. It doesn't appear to have a stock lug. That may be because the frame never had one, or because it has been removed. Best regards, Kyrie |
Re: Marc's DWM has been added...
Does the serial number on the frame appear to be original? The pistol appears to be an '08 Commercial, and the '08s started to show up at around serial number 39000. The BUG proofs were still being used in this time frame, but the pistol seems to have been made up from parts and re-serialed in the military style.

There is a stock lug. The angle of the photo doesn't show it very well. Marc

Re: Marc's DWM has been added...
The serial appears original, although it is stamped as crooked as the one on the side. It doesn't appear to have been buffed down and restamped, and I don't see any previous stampings under it. I'm still not sure what the marking is under the takedown lever. Anyone know? That's the closest I can get without it getting blurry.

I have the same mark, Marc...
![]() on my Luger which appears to have also been rebuilt from parts. I hope this helps someone identify it.

Re:E.German acceptance
Doc, thanks for posting the above photo. These are the VOPO acceptance (proof firing) markings that I mentioned above on this topic and also in my classified ad.#50.
