Question about a 1918 DWM Luger?
 

This pistol may be coming up for sale.

It has DWM in script on the toggle, 1918 is also stamped on the frame. The numbers all seem to match. And it is in VERY nice condition.

It has an import stamp on the right side of the lower frame. The importer is: Miltex, Laplata MD.

Is this pistol worth anything, considering the import stamp? Also, what would be a fair price for it.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

For anyone here to give you a more informed estimate on the worth of the pistol, it would be helpful to post pictures if you can and explain a little more about the pistol.

I don't have any pics, as I don't own it. It may come up for sale, and was looking for a general value.

The only other things I know about it is that it is in very nice condition, the bore is bright with very sharp lands and grooves. It is not blued however, it was parked sometime in it's history. The grips are some kind of bake-lite, aside from those all numbers seem to match.

That's about all I can tell you at this time.

Hello sixpack. The pistol sounds like an Eastern European import. That is to say, captured by the commies in 45 and put into service in one of their vassal states. $500 tops!!! Offer $300 and don't pay a dollar more.

a lot depends on your reasons for buying a Luger. If you want something to occasionally shoot at the range and have some fun with, then Georges advise is sound, good advise. If you are a beginning serious collector, then I would save my money for something else. As a collector, there will be Lugers that you will consider 'mistakes' and you could use those to have fun at the range with.

The owner came out with a $500 price, needless to say I passed. Thank you for all the info.

VA prices must be lower than in Colorado... I could see passing on it, but I don't see $500 shooter lugers very often anymore...

On the other hand, for $200-$300 more you can get a nice collector piece.
