So, here is the information we need to help you!

Can you tell us any markings on the gun?

Proofs? (see on your left under tech information if you came through www.lugerforum.com) Tell us what and where proofs and markings are located.

There are forms in this section, where you can print out and then write down pertinent information.

What serial number is on the gun? To include any letters next to or under the serial number?

What year or letters are stamped on the top of the receiver?

What initials or letters are on the toggle?

Can you provide pictures, to include side, top, etc?

I DON'T KNOW A LOT ABOUT LUGERS.the chamber is dated 1940.serial#6799.all parts match except magazine.safety is on when in rear.It is marked GESICHERT.Toggle is marked 42.Has stock lug.Blade front sight v notch rear.

* Your Luger was one of 135,700 made in 1940. "42" on the middle toggle link was the Mfg.'s code for Mauser. The S/N range was 7700z to 7000n per Still's-Third Reich Lugers.
* The small, lower case, cursive suffix letter can be found on the grip frame, forward & above the trigger guard on a vertical flat surface just underneath the rear of the barrel's underside. It is part of the full S/N of this pistol. The Tech. Info sheets show these. It is possible on this example no suffix letter would appear as a "NO SUFFIX(ns) block" of 10,000 has been recorded.
* It is likely a stick wing Eagle over the numerals 655(sE/655) appears on the right side of the receiver in a sequence sE/655, sE/655, sE/swastika. Is this what you see??
* Ed's suggestions for your examination & recording of markings you see will help all of us learn of/contribute to this pistol's likely provenience. Pictures/scans will allow comments on the original condition of this example.
* Even though the mag doesn't match, if it is an original example, recording/posting the numbers, suffix, eagle acceptance, and other markings may trigger another collector to ID it's likely time of mfg. and appropriate status as contemporary to this pistol. It may even match another collector's piece. Then the fun really begins.
* Trust this helps. Encourage you to add more if you can on marks you observe. Do all the numbers match on the various parts??

Bob,Thanks for your help.All the #s match.there is a stick wing eagle on the magazine over the # 63.In front of the 655 on the right side is what looks like a winged horse.Anything else you can come up with would be great.I will try to get a picture asap.
