Minor Rant about Luger parts
Let me start by saying that I have bought and sold Luger parts on Ebay. But aside from the ridiculous prices now being paid I see a very bad thing happening. There is a dealer in military guns who is now parting out matching 1920 Commercials that look to be in very good shape! Why? Well I know why. A good condition matching shooter will bring $500-$600, but you break it up and suddenly you have $825.
Frame stripped $100 Upper and barrel $175 Toggle complete $175 Grips $100 Side plate $75 Misc. small parts $100 Magazine $100 Now I don't mind parting out a total mismatch, but I hate to see matching guns in any condition be broken up for the almighty dollar! The only silver lining I can see is that prices for 1920 Commercials will go up as more are scrapped. Heck, maybe some day they will start faking to 1920's? |
Yes, I have noticed this also, and in fact had a friend tell me he had a friend that parted out just about every mismatched Luger than came to him.
I know there are people who are buying the guns in Canada and parting them out. I also realize that it is better to part them out, then melt them down, jsut hate to see it happen. Ed |
Don’t worry guys, for those prices, I’m sure the people who are buying those parts are modifying and re-assembling them into all matching Lugers. So you will see them again.
