Navy Model Erma 22

Hi Everyone,

On Bob Adams web site he has a Navy Model Erma 22 pistol for sale. This is the first time I have seen one like it and thought it was pretty cool looking. Has anyone ever seen or shot one of these? If so, what did you think of it? It seems to me that this would be a fun shooter. What do you folks think? Comments?

Here is the link to a picture of it. http://www.adamsguns.com/1234.jpg

Thanks,
Sid.

Sid, I have not owned one of these, but if memory serves me correctly, from those I have spoken to who have owned one, these guns do not have a very good reliability reputation and parts availability is NILL...

Anyone who might have any other input?

John, that was what I had been told before by quite a few folks. The quality of the metal used was not very good. Although, this one look pretty cool with the long barrel on it.

These pistols are made of pot metal including the barrel, which is merely lined with a thin steel sleeve. They cannot be fired extensively without some kind of significan breakage.

Why is it called Navy, when Artillery or Carbine would be closer???

Because the rear sight resembles those on a navy Luger and looks nothing like the rear sight on an artillery Luger

I have had two Luger look likes. The first was the Stoeger 22. A jammomatic although it would put them where you were looking when it did go bang. It's history.

I currently have the small sized Erma in 32 ACP. So far ir has been working well, has yet to malfunction.

I was thinking the opposite on the sights. The Navy has its sight on the rear toggle, while the artillery has it on the barrel. Just a thought...

Thanks for the replies everyone. Johnny, you brought up a good point on those rear sights. I would tend to call this an artillery instead of a Navy. It is an interesting version though. To bad the quality that went into them was so poor.

I have one of these, and even tho they seem to be made out of inferior metal, they are VERY accurate, and fun to shoot.
