Sarco repro sideplate
Has anyone seen a Sarco repro sideplate? Does it look and fit okay?

I ordered one about a year ago. It was not a "pop on" replacement. Rather a porous casting which required a lot of polishing on the outside and much fitting on the inside particularly in the area of the trigger axle. Eventually it did work. Ken D |
I have bought a half dozen or so. As Ken stated, they are a rough casting and will need a lot of polishing and fitting to work, but they are ok if you do this.

Thanks - sounds like I need to hold out for an original one.

Saxman,
Go to the "Links & Resources" section of the Forum and get the e-mail address or telephone number for Tom Heller. He should have some original sideplates in stock and he can help with your search. I think his e-maill address is <hellerarms@webtv.net>. Tom is a well respected dealer and probably the largest Luger parts dealer in the US. Good Luck. Marvin |
If Tom can't help, there are at least two original side plates on e-bay at the moment. Look under "Collectables" and do a search on "Luger".

FYI THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN SIDE PLATES FOR POLICE LUGERS AND OTHERS(ARMY/COML). SIDE PLATES ON POLICE LUGERS HAVE A SMALL CUT OUT ON UPPER FLANGE TO ACCOMMODATE A SEAR SAFETY.(EBAY #2124666765 HAS THIS) YOU MIGHT WANT TO SPECIFY WHICH ONE YOU WANT WHEN ORDERING.. KEN D |
Thanks, Ken. I'm aware of the sear safety side plate, but only by a few days! There's a lot to learn about them, and I've just started.

I purchased a few of Sarco's in the white repro sideplate and had them fitted to a standard PO8, polished and hot dip blued. Selling these stripped for $50 or with repro lever (which will have to be fitted to your PO8) and pin @$75. Hellerarms@webtv.net
