OT - British revolver parts needed
 

Sorry to go off topic but I need to find a barrel latch, (or stirrup), spring for a British Enfield No 2 MK 1 or Webley MK IV revolver.

Anyone with any suggestions as to where I might find such a thing ?

Thanks John, I'd never even thought they might have it ! I've stocked up for both the Enfield and Webley so I hope the right things arrive.

I appreciate you taking the time to look that up and help me get these old guns running again.

Good luck on getting it to fit. I got one for a MKVI and finally just gave up. It would not stay put. I hate shooting guns that lose parts when fired. Getting it in required three hands, and it shoots just fine without it. Get a pair of needle nosed vise grips.

RK, I find it hard to believe that a person as resouceful as a career soldier ( who has been trained to make do with whatever is handy and laying around) would have trouble making anything work given the time and tools... Of course a needle-nosed vise grip should be in everyone's toolbox... it is an essential [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Hi RK. I don't think I'm brave enough to fire the gun without the cylinder and barrel being held positively in place ! Did the replacement spring you had have the locating dimple punched in it ?

You're right about the 3 hands though; I broke the original by picking up a pair of flat, rather than needle nosed, grips and was too lazy to go back and get the right tool, my own stupid mistake, (shame it won't be the last one [img]wink.gif[/img]

I just couldn't get it to stay in. I do think it had the retaining dimple though. John, some sadist designed this spring. If you can get it compressed to fit then whatever is holding it is in the way. And once by some miracle you do get it in and it looks right, pop open the cylinder and then the spring flies out to the right at 90 mph. Spend 20 minutes crawling on the floor looking for it with a flashlight, find it and just do it all again. I just close cylinder, push latch closed, and shoot. Works fine.
