P38 and P08 made after WWII under French Army control
We already spoke in several topics about the P08s and P38s made by Mauser under French control (1945-47). It is interesting to know that some P38s made under French Army control have been imported in USA by Interarms in 1970. Is currently available on EBAY this interesting box:

Mauro,
I believe that Interarms purchased some if not all of the French production and had started to import them prior to 1968 so many will show up without import marks. As in this link: http://www.p38guns.com/SVW45French.htm The import marks are in a very interesting location on the slide rail for the guns imported post 1968. This gun is a very rare "L" block. http://www.p38guns.com/SVW46L.htm The box is a common item to find with these guns however, I have never seen just a box for sale! Mark |
How about the Lugers sold through the PX in West Germany? I've seen one in the box. Were these assembled after the war?

Unspellable, do a search in the Krieghoff Luger forum for "PX" and you will find several discussions on the subject.

I have two of the L block P.38s in there boxes. (The boxes are also marked with the number). The pistols are a consecutive pair but strangely the first one "398" has its number stamped in at least five places including the trigger, yet the second pistol "399" only has one number stamped on the frame under the hammer. Being that they are only "one" number away I thought it was odd.

As far as concerns the P08s, I know that French Army and also Gendarmerie used these pistols. Some photos are available with French soldiers in Indocina with P08 in the holster.
Some pics related to the LP08s and P08s made under French control are available in my web site. Ciao mauro |
