I wonder how many of those were made, and if they would be the source of all of these reports of people having handled or shot a .45 Luger sometime in the past. Could explain a lot of those stories...

That one would be a bear to load. The right grip is supposed to be slotted so that you can insert a short rod into the follower to pull it down, much like using a Luger tool, to facilitate loading. Unless this one was made for a "lefty" and has the slot in the side that is not shown.

This .45 has a loading mechanism similar to what Ron has described. It looks like it only holds 3 or four rounds, but I bet it is a blast to shoot (pun intended)...
