Hurricane Jeanne

For those of you that have sent me mgs, concerning my status sorry but I have been unable to respone to each, but thank you for your concern.

We have surrived another driect hit, this time by Jeanne. The family is fine and the house has some damage that we'll get fixed, but nothing major. (4 of our guys lost there houses completly). So I feel lucky....mybe I can win the lottey next.

I am working 12 hours shifts 11pm to 11am, sleeping 4 or 5 hours a day and the rest of the time is spent in line to get supplies for the family, so I will not be able to find time to respond to each of you or vist this site until things get back to normal. (We also have no power.)

Thank you and keep us in your prayers

Jim

Prayers on the way Jim... If FOUR hurricanes haven't licked you... you WILL survive...

best to you,

John

Jim, Best of luck to you. All this waiting in line reminds me of my visit to the Ukrane or other Soviet Republics, where the state controls the distribution of goods. Just be thankful that we live in the good ole USA, when things get back to normal. TH

Jim,

You and all the folks in your area are in our thoughts and prayers as well. When things calm down a bit down there, post back when you can, OK?

Jim,

If you remember, I lost much of my house to Charlie. We moved to a rental (to allow repair of our house) during Francis (a real pain) and went back to WV for a high school 50th reunion as Ivan approached. Now Jeannie is delaying our return and our house repairs. What a pain, I don't know how you can work while trying to cope with this mess. You LE guys are great. Thanks for all you do.

Jim
Look at the brite side. You do not have ST. Hellens on the east coast.
GOOD LUCK

Russ

An update on the Gill family. Uncle (Melbourne)had a guy knock on his door and said his tarpaper was leaving. For 25$ he would put it back. 106 wind. Uncle said H###! YES. I was concerned about the retired Col. He handled it just fine. He lives in Melbourne and slept on the laundry room floor. He would have retreated to the car in the garage. I would like to thank the Kid with the ladder but I think he is off with the cash!. Everybody else is .... WOW!!! 86 year old Uncle proves he can do it again!!!... I Think I will stop worrying about these old people.
My Mom, another twice hit, just went to sleep. With the phone off the hook. Trees down, soffiting gone, Tile roof damage, ect. can't stand the smell of 150 year old antique lamps I gave her. I had her set up... Poor Oldies In My Family LUCKED OUT! Wish the best to yours.....G. W.

We're back on line,
Things are not back to normal yet, but we got power yesterday at 5pm and was able to take a HOT shower for the first time in 5 days.

Things are still a mess, more than 50,000 people in the area are still without power. We lost the police building and currently are in the process of moving into 7 trailers. Traffic is still a nightmare, because there are no signal lights.

I thought I would share a couple of photos with you, from all the things I saw these were the most impressive:

http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfupload/p9270043.jpg

(1) A Class C motor home with a boat was backed into an alcove between (2) buildings, the wall on the building on the left, separated from the building and just folded over on top of the motor home and boat.

http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfupload/p9260021.jpg

(2) the side of our police complex, where the rain was driven so hard against the building that it pealed the paint.

Sorry if I bored anyone, I know this isnâ??t about Lugers, although I am happy to report that my babies in the safe are doing just fine, no damage there.

Great to hear you "reporting for duty" Jim... (with no apologies to John Kerry!)

Keep your Lugers and your family dry...

Jamese, The best to you and all First Responders. Police, Fire and Med. How is your home? Glad loved ones are safe. G. W. Gill "Retired Fireman"

Jamese,
I am happy to hear that you and your fine family are well. You can always repair a house. But a family is more important.
Big Norm
