Left Handed Lugers
 

Hi Everyone,
Last evening I was thinking about, what else Lugers and was wondering if there were any Lugers made for left handed shooters. I do not recall ever seeing one or even hearing about one. So my question is, has there ever been any Lugers made this way? If so, does anyone have one and are there any pictures of one? My guess is that there were not any made this way. To difficult to change the machine tools to create a left handed pistol. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Just couldn't resist Sid... The answer to your question is that No, I have never even heard of a Left Handed Luger... If anyone offers you one for sale... make sure you get to hold it in your hand before you sign the check.

Definitely an interesting thought though... but for the manufacturing reasons you specified... I doubt it would have even been considered.

Somehow John, that just hurts my brain!

I am not near my books for a couple of days, but I recall reading that the Swiss (?) played around with wide triggers that were more centered in the trigger guard to help accomodate left-handed shooters.

Never did anything about the thumb safety, though...

For this, you need a Mauser C96 Broomhandle. Pretty much symmetrical from left to right except for the safety.

Thanks for posting the mirrored image of the Luger. I had a feeling you were going to do this so I refrained from adding that no mirrored images be posted. I shoot left handed and was curious if there was one. To bad the image that you posted is not real. It looks really cool. Thanks for posting it. Pete, let me know what you find out when you get back to your books. I would appreciate it very much. A Mauser C96 would be fun. Maybe one of these days. Thanks everyone.

Most single action and cap and ball revolvers follow Colt's lead and are left handed. There are a number of left handed bolt action rifles about. The lever action, and many single shot rifles are ambidexterous.

Of course a serious game rifle or shotgun has two barrels and in such a case is nearly symmetrical. Quite a number of such have been made with the triggers transposed for the left hander, or in many cases have a single trigger.

Ow! That picture actually hurts my eyes to look at. Its much the same effect as looking at a human face upside-down.

I believe that there are AR-15 variations that are made by DPMS that actually have a left ejection port, and an ambidextrous safety lever, but I can't remember if the magazine button is a lefty or not...

While I feel for those of you with sinistral tendencies, I AM SO GLAD THAT GEORG LUGER had a leaning toward the right hand :)

Hi To All! Strange as it may seem, John V. Martz has actually converted the P.08 safty lever to the opposite side to accomadate left handers! My mother tried very hard to make me right handed, without any success! Must have had something to do with being born in the fifties! Dwight, how can you say that the photo hurts your eyes. I can just imagine how that would feel in my left hand right now with everything on the correct side. :-) I also was told to use my right hand when growing up. I can still remember the ruler across the knuckles when trying to write using my left hand. I sure am glad that I did not have the teachers around when I learned to shoot and do other things. I also suffered for being "Different" than the "normal kids". But my Dad told me that lefty guns were too expensive so he taught me to shoot with both hands and then he found out that I am right eye dominant so it was a moot point.

its EZ Viggo... you just take the right hand kind, bendem apart... flatten the parts with a hammer and bendem back the "other" way :D then reassemble!

Another option is to turn around and face the opposite direction when you are loading the magazine, or stand in front of a mirror.

The sinister Luger would definitely need a sinister holster.

I believe that Remington semi auto rifles 740 thru 742 come in left handed versions. I know that the saftey was reversed but I can not remember if the the ejection was reversed. I know that I bought one for my nephew.
