9mm Ammo Specs...
I was looking through the Stoeger reproduction of the DWM manual for the Luger titled The "PARABELLUM" Automatic Pistol. I'm sure many of you have seen this little red book. I thought it was interesting info on the specs for the 9mm ammo. Seems a bit weak compared to todays 9mm ammo. Here they are.
Length of Cartridge - 1.142" Weight of Cartridge - 193 grains Powder Charge - 5.4 grains Weight of Projectile - 123.4 grains Velocity - 1020 feet (310 meters) Working Effect - 283 foot pounds (Energy) Caliber - .354" (9mm) Maximum Range - 1600 yards It goes on to talk about penetration and groups at different ranges, rate of fire, and reloading speed. These little books certainly are worth having. I paid $1.95 for it 1978... |
Johnny:
I got a copy of this around 1968 and another reop in the German language about 1980. These two little books have certainly helped me a lot with my load development, etc. Please note that the OAL you listed is for the TC bullet. In MMs it is 29.2mm. Sieger |
Would 29.2mm = 1.1496". Both of those measurements seem to be close to what my reloads seem to be leaning toward, as I tried different lengths. I've been using 1.150 to 1.140 lately...
