Is anyone haveing a problem getting onto Jans site?

All of the "Gunboards.com" sites are down for me.

This morning Jan was told it would be down for two hours. <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" />
Of course, that was at 9:30 or 10:30 AM... <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" />

Still down. 4:14PM PDT.

If you read the this site's help section - not everything goes "as planned" when moving code/circuits/upgrades to the OS/etc. Not certain what Gunboards is doing - but, if they are like me - they are pulling their hair out about now.....

It'll come up.... Hang on a bit for those folks, too - OK???.. I know they'd appreciate it, as I do when I have something going on at my end...

At least you give the forum members here a "heads up" that something is in the works and the site might be down etc. etc.! It is like the owners over on Gunboards wake up this morning and decide to make some rather significant upgrades or modifications or whatever and never think about letting the forum users in on the potential down time before it happens. I just don't get that. What is wrong with a courtesy post telling the forum users/members that the fourm(s) will be down for awhile before it happens??? Certainly someone over there must be aware that they are going to pull the plug for a while before it just sort of happens!

LLoyd, It might be that they had no notification, had a problem, there was not time to notify the members. Anything's possible...I have to give Jan the benifit of providing a free site and cut them some slack. I know we all enjoy and even depend on John's and Jan's sites and miss them when theyr not here but they have problems I can't even imagine! Bet it'l be up soon. Jerry Burney

Except that gunboards.com is down also, and Jans site is on a seperate server, and the gunboards is on a bunch of servers.

I figure it is one of these problems;

1. Turned off to save some money for x number of hours.

2. A major router or other problem is happening.

3. A denial of service attack by a hacker, probably not happening, as I would think they have more than one IP address, but it is possible.

As Llyod said, it would be nice to know if something was going to happen, but it is a free service, so how can I complain too loud.

You know it's funny. I lived without the Gore Internet for some 60 years and now if I can't get on it or one of my favorite sites I start hollering almost immediately. It's like this damn computer is running my life and consuming my time. But I love it and I think a lot of other people do too! The first thing I have to do when I get up in the morning is check my email. I never even use to have email because I didn't have a computer. Now it is an all important thing. I think I am going to have to hire a secretary now to take care of my computer business. I spend hours glaring at this screen and one eye has gone bad and I hope I don't lose the other one or I will be is it up the creek without a paddle or down the creek without a paddle. The last thing I do before I go to bed at night is turn off the computer or put it on standby so it will be ready to go in the morning. Are you addicted to this thing like I am?
