April Auction...

...from the Rock Island folks...part of the Putnam Green collection :

http://www.rockislandauction.com/auc..._premiere.html

Interesting sampling of lugers and other weapons. Looks like the top-most luger might be a very nice 1902 Fat Barrel :

Pete, this sounds interesting in itself;

Pete,

This is not the Putnam Green collection, but another important collector whose name I cannot mention at the moment. I have never heard of Mr. Green, and maybe some of his items are included in the same auction.

All I can mention is that the collection is magnificant indeed and it will create a 'whirl wind' in the collectors market. Besides a few collectors who I know, I wonder you will be the other big players in the auction who will be able to afford the prices which these items will fetch?

Cheers,
Albert

Pete,
never seen a pigskin like this. It seems in new condition. I guess that no LP08 was fitted inside this holster. In fact the pigskin holster is very soft and, after about 90 years, usually takes a different shape.
Good luck.
Ciao

Hello Albert,

Yes...maybe the folks at the Auction site combined guns when they did their photography...

In another photo, a Sauer 38H pistol appears to have "Himmler" engraved along its left side. And a really nice Polish Radom with holster...WOW !!!

W-O-O-O-EEE! A 1906 NAVY with stock, holster and straps. Tom A, hold me back. OH MAMMA! I wonder what chamber date that artillery has on it? Buyers premium of 15%. Crunch!! April 15th Hummm, that date has a familiar ring to it. I might not be in jail yet though. Oh Baby! This collection is cool.

Norm my man,

You can always get more money. Matching '06 rigs are *very* hard to find. I have one that is marked from a Naval Zepplin Unit....suffice it to say, I have never seen another. What I need now is a full rig '08 Navy and my rig collection will be complete.

Tom,
I know your feelings. I have a number of artilleries with matching mags and stocks. I am looking for holsters to match up the years on the chamber to the years on the holsters. Its hard just to find just the holsters and stock attaching leather yet alone the matching years. But we all have our goals. Thats what makes it all fun.

Hello Tom A.,

Did I mis-read your last posting or did you actually indicate you will stop "vacuuming up" all the Navy stuff when you locate this last rig...???

Tom A,
I was just looking at the Louisville, Ky National Gun Day gun show on Feb 21,22. I saw a Don Armstrongs picture From Ga and I thought of you. Are you planning on being there? I though that I might make the trip in my water logged motor home.
