CA-State C&R Registration Form...

For fellow CA-State C&R license holders, you might want to take note of a change that occurred November 1, 2004.

In the past when a C&R license holder buys a gun and brings it into the State, we had 5-days (from receipt) to fill out a C&R registration form along with our $ 14.00 processing fee.

As of 11-1-04, this old C&R form was abandoned and CA-State is now using a "Firearms Ownership Record" form plus a fee of $ 19.00.

No problem...fees tend to go up.

But to my surprise, take a look at the "agreement" they have you sign and declare at the bottom of the new form. I AM IN SHOCK !!!

I immediately called my local CA-DOJ Firearms Division office (in Sacramento) and was notified that the old form is no longer accepted and all C&R purchases must be registered with the new form.

You folks are lucky if you do not reside in CA-State...

If any LF members in CA have legal back-grounds, I would like to get some opinions; won't hold you to anything...

I am certainly elgible to own and buy C&R and other weapons in the state...so I am not personally worried...but there seems to be a much bigger issue at play here...

CA-State also makes me renew my Certificate of Elgibility each year (finger-prints, another fee, and back-ground check)...so why do they need such another declaration...???

The old C&R registration form :

Pete,

Although I loved the 3 months I spent in CA this year, I'd advise you to *MOVE*.

If you own guns and it is illegal for you to own guns, then it would be illegal for them to allow you to keep them. Legal double talk...

Holy Crap, Pete! It's the Orwellian registration form. Complete with new speak. Where do they find these "Vaporlocks"? We lucked out and got rid of Vera Katz. Oregon's version of Barbara Boxer with Diane Feinstein shoved up her butt. She tried to start crap like this. And she got voted out.
She tried to pass a state law that would have made it a requirement to have a destructive devices license. To buy reloading components.
Good Luck, with this facsist crap.

Pete, Doc, and anyone else down there.

You can send all your guns up here so they will be safe. :D I am sure Dwight or Ron would help me store them for you.

Pete, time to think about moving one state north.

I'd love to expand my role as Luger Caretaker. Looks like we may have the beginning of the Oregon Cabal :D

Pete, It might be a thought. The bay area is'nt that far away. Besides, you'll meet a much better class of people up here.

Pete, You correctly identified the new form as a fund raiser. I'm surprised to learn of this form (new since I left CA) as I thought that all private and C&R transactions, were supposed to go thru a "Transfer Dealer" on his DROS forms. Contrary to what Ron says, if you were to move, you'd miss those colorful crazyies from south of Market, who would be locked up anywhere else. Tom

Hey Pete... I think you folks in California have a loophole to that agreement because of the way it is worded... it says you have to reliquish guns you currently own if you are no longer eligible by California standards, but it DOES NOT state that you have to relinquish them to the government of California... which to me says you can sell or give them to someone who is eligible, either in CA or outside of the state... A californian caught in this web could pack up all their guns and send them to a trusted associate with a FFL outside of the state... anyone with legal experience, please comment on this opinion.

I cannot understand why you folks stay in California. Look at last week's election results...go where the red is. Leave the blue places to the beautiful people, welfare recipients and criminals.

Thank God I am a Virginian! I feel sorry for all the Republicans/Conservatives and gun owners out there. You guys need to move to Nevada or Arizona to get away from that Gun Gestapo place.
