A Question of Strawing
For old collectors and newbies alike. When you are looking at a Luger that has strawed parts, WHICH of the five parts do you think is the most striking or the part you look at first, which adds the most to the over all look of the weapon? Ejector, magazine release, trigger, safety Lever, take down Lever? Just curious! I have my own opinion and it is always the one I want to do first! I am working on that part tonight for DOKS TDJ! (Total Doll Job) Thanks! Ted

Re: Safety Lever, and that's MY final answer
The trigger. A friend recently bought a Swiss "wide trigger" and the trigger is striking against the blued pistol.

FWIW - Trigger (EOM)

Re: A Question of Strawing
Hi TED
Safety lever, take down lever and trigger. In that order. Mike |
safety Lever, but......
I reserve the option to change my mind!

Re: A Question of Strawing
The score so far: Trigger-4 Safety-4 Ejector-1
|
Ted, So what's the right answer?
(EOM) |
I vote for the Safety lever (EOM)

Re: Ted, So what's the right answer?
![]() I think that is an opinion item, that is the reason for the question, a curiosity on my part! I always look at the safety lever myself and enjoy strawing it my self. With Bob Lipps vote it appears to now be Trigger 4, Safety 6 and Ejector 1. Poor takedown and mag release, they look like cool little circles on the right side but the checkering spoils their appearance on the left side unless you hit the reflection of the light just right off the checker diamonds! Re: Strawed parts und Bunny Ears
Actually I enjoy strawing the parts in this order. Safety lever, trigger, ejector are nice fun parts. The ejector is easy but the slight curvature makes it a little more work. The safety lever curves are nice, the trigger is fun and quite striking as well. The mag release is not bad but the take down is the last piece I want to work on because it is small and has lots of angles and tight radii, I invariable do the safety first, kind of like which part of the chocolate bunny do you bit first at Easter?.........gotta be the EARS!!!

Trigger, by a hair.

Re: A Question of Strawing
I voted for Safety. Yes I did get the K date looks Great. I also bought a Manurhin PP on the same yellow sheet that I got my own Luger back on so now the feds have a multiple gun sale on record. How you like them apples?

Re: A Question of Strawing
Ted,
I always look at the trigger first, then the safety area second. I like to look at the trigger on the right side and see if it has been re-strawed, as the originals are faded where a finger has been on it. The same with the safety area, the underside is faded where the thumb has pushed it upwards if not re-strawed. |
Re: A Question of Strawing
