Glueing chipped grips
 

I've got a pair of wooden grips which came complete with the chipped piece. The chip is in the usual place, on the left grip, upper right just under the safety lever. My attempt at glueing didn't last. As I recall, I used oven cleaner to degrease and then epoxy glue. Is there another way to do this?

Have you ever used any of the current high strength wood glue which is moisture resistant? My woodworking projects that will be outdoors will have "Gorilla Glue" on them and so far it has worked very well. What is your experience?

Super Glue Gel. Have used it for years. Have repaired/replaced the million dollar chip on some High dollar Lugers and many others. No complaints.

Glue dries while you hold it and stays stuck with minimum of mess. Ask for more!

I have read some good reports on Gorilla Glue and just recently bought some to try.

I found that so far it works great, let me know what you think of Gorilla Glue. In a few years, I hope it still holds up outside on my projects. For Luger grips, I think it would be great. I had never thought of using the Super Glue for wood. I normally used the water resistant wood glues that I use on furniture. Oh yea, Super Glue does work good on plastic grips, but just be careful or you can see where it oozes out if you get too much.

Use the Gel--not the orig, runny stuff.

Super glue gel is good stuff! I use it to glue the leather tips to my McDermott pool cue. It lasts until it's time to replace the tip.

Thanks for the information on the gel type super glue! I was aware of the "runny" stuff and it was a pain in the butt to keep it from running everywhere.
