quickloading? a problem...

As I was inserting a loaded magazine into my luger the toggle closed down chambering a 9mm round. It scared me and happened only once. Should I be concerned.

Welcome to the forum sir, nope, never happened to me but I don't have the toggle to the rear when inserting a loaded magazine. Recommend you consider the same.

Wouldn't have scared the REAL Mr. Bond. You should only be concerned if the pistol was not pointed downrange , if it was pointed in the right direction you are into action all the quicker! Ready, Aim, Fire!

In all seriousness it should not close on a loaded magazine when inserted. The holdopen device should hold the toggle back since it is already in place and held by tension. The magazine is what holds the holdopen device up , but once up it should stay that way due to the pressure of the bolt face against it. You must remember though that there is no other method to hold it in place and vibration or movement could cause it to slip out of place since the unloaded magazine is not in place and a loaded magazine will not cause the holdopen to raise. You might want to check to see if the holdopen device is damaged in any way. Maybe the front edge that is supposed to be sharp is rounded over some. Look it over closely. You can remove it by lifting it at the rear, where it would be if it were holding open a magazine, and pulling it gently to the rear. Jerry Burney
