Luger Videos

WOW!!! Joe Shray of Ft Collins Colorado sent me a couple of videos to look at that he put together a few years back. "The Luger Pistol: A Video Profile" and "Machine Guns of Germany". Thanks Joe, I look forward to viewing them soon! Thank you Joe!

There is an accompanying guide book and it indicates the video is split up into 9 parts. The video is said to be for collectors, and NOT a replacement of the many fine books aboutt he Luger. This video does NOT go over the Luger's History. Over 50 individual Luger Variations are looked at in this video. The sections are:
1.The Borchardt Pistol 2. Swiss Lugers
3.Lugers in the US 4.Exports Models before WWI
5. German Military Issue 6. Police Issue 7. Export and Rework Pistols after WWI 8. Engraved and Personal Pistols 9.Firing Demos-Night firing of tracer ammo, Freeze frame View with 1/10,000 second camera, Barrel Toggle Unit test fire, Erma 22 Conversion Test fire!

Hey that sounds pretty cool. Sounds like a heck of a lot of time went into making it?

John Sabato 01-14-2003 05:11 PM

really Thor, you should ask Joe what he wants for a copy... he could probably sell quite a few here on the forum...

I am working on that, but I wanted to view it first to see the Video and comment on it before I asked that question. The colored photos in the Guide book are really excellent.

Wow, a great video, I watched it tonight, running time was about 2 hours 10 minutes on my VCR. GREAT color presentation of Several Top Collector's Luger Collections, some living, some deceased. No audio except background Military Marching type music which I thought was very nice.
Very close up video filmed very professionaly showing markings, finish, strawing, bluing, WOW, it was mesmerizing!!! The firing sequences were great too, High speed film used to show the entire Luger sequence on several models. The night firing of Navy and Artillery Lugers firing traser ammo at lighted targets was very cool with a good audio on firing, bullets bouncing, etc. A very intertaining and colorful look at some fine collection pieces. I believe the videos will run around $25 each. Interested parties please contact Joe Shray at email address Joeshray@cs.com His mailing address is Joe Shray, PO Box 714, Ft Collins, CO 80522. Thanks Joe for sharing this great video with us.

In case you guys missed it yesterday, Joe's Video is well worth the money. A great way to see some super collection Lugers. A lot of "ah.. and oooos" on my part. Really enjoyable.

Hey Thor, I just sent in my $25. I emailed Joe and he said it (the $25) would also handle the shipping. Thanks for the report!!

Does $25 get all of the videos, or just one part???

Frank 01-17-2003 09:09 AM

Johnny, it just gets you the Luger Video!!
