GT's P-38 collection [OT]

To all,

Only a few of you know that I have been away from the Lugerforum ADMIN desk for a few days... and while taking care of some urgent family business in Phoenix, I accepted the kind and generous invitation of our Luger Mag bottom craftsman -GT- to visit his home and see his P-38 collection, and his workshop where he creates his masterpiece Luger magazine bottoms.

It was a GREAT time and my 10 and 7 year old grandsons were wide-eyed, just like their grandfather at GT's collection. He owns the finest collection of P-38's I have ever had the good fortune to view and he actually let me handle them!

If you are ever in the Phoenix area, I would urge you to get in touch with GT and see if he can fit you into his busy schedule... He loves to talk about them, and I loved listening to his P-38 history lesson. GT could write his own book on P-38's, but Orv Reichert is going to beat him to that...

I also got to see and handle the reproduction Navy Luger that John Martz made as a gift for GT and that our own THOR finished for him... it was nicer in person than any of the photographs you may have seen here on the forum.

To the other Lugerforum members in the Phoenix area, my apologies for not being able to touch base with you while there... I only had a few hours for a single evening before heading back to Washington DC, and GT's collection took every bit of that time. My next visit to Phoenix will have to be a lot longer... and perhaps include a get-together for some Luger shooting with those of you that are local... I regret that I will probably be unable to attend this year's gathering at Ralph Shattucks... simply because of a lack of my availability... I had hoped to meet him this year... and all the rest of you who can make it, but right now that is pretty doubtful...

John, I am truely sorry we didnt get to meet, but I do appreciate the effort on your part to see me! Perhaps, next time! I would love to meet you in person! I am glad you are home safe! GT is always a great host and very generous with pulling his collection out! It is something to see! He knows a whole lot about P.38s and his Luger work is world class!

John, What you didn't come on down to Yuma to visit? I should get up to Phoenix and see G.T. myself. It's only three hours away from here. I would love to see what he has. He certainly does World class work. I have been making a triple magazine pouch to house three of the wonderful magazines G.T. Made for me last Summer.

I am sorry to say that I had planned to go to the WOL get together but they planned it for right after I leave for my other home in Colorado. Maybe some other time. Jerry Burney

Hi John! It was just as much fun for me as it was for you! As always, we didn't have near enough time to see all there was to see! It was also a pleasure to meet your two fine grandsons... who are now firm friends of Taz & Panzer! And, Thanks to you all, for the kind words! My door is always open, and the beer is always cold! (if you are so inclined!) I always enjoy seeing and showing collectable & shootable P.08's and P.38's! It has been my pleasure to meet some of our forum members over the last couple of years, fine gentlemen all! Thanks again! till...later...GT
