The Forum Time is Set Wrong

John D. and John S.

I'm just being a nag I guess, but it's now about 11:00 PM Eastern Std. Daylight time on July 31 as I type this and the forum has switched to Aug 1 some time ago. It seems to change days maybe at 5:00 PM EST. Did you set the thing up for Tacfoley???

AGE, I've wondered if the clock has been syncronized for Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). I do know that it's a pain trying to figure out when a new post has been made since the last time I looked. I'm aware of the red box to the side but that doesn't seem to help much. I wish it were set for EDST.

Doubs, it should be set on the correct time, Tinker Time, where ever I am is the right time! :D

I noticed it changed after John did the server switch.

Eastern time is better for me to, was set on Dok Time before the switch to this newer forum...

The server time IS incorrect for a very good reason... If I remember correctly, John D has a great MANY servers and daily maintenance is performed on those servers by automated processes... most of these processes are defaulted to occur at the change of day or 00:00 and this would cause all of his servers to be OFF LINE at the same time... Not good for his business... so the clocks on the servers are staggered...

If I got anything wrong I am sure the great one (John D) will jump in and make appropriate corrections when his alarm clock goes off... I know he has to get up early because of his LONG commute... about 60 seconds from his front door to the door where his servers and business are located... :D

In the past I made a point of checking on the active topics before going to bed (around 11 PM EST) before the midnight change over. That way I could easily look at the new stuff for the day. I can just do this now around 6 PM and catch most of the new posts. Whatever John D. wants to do will work if we are up to speed.

I'd like to make a suggestion, if it's not too difficult or impractical. Is it possible to place a clock at the top (or bottom) of the main discussions page to show the current date/time for the forum? It would sure help me, anyway. Just a thought.

Doubs, the problem is, whose current time?

I imagine you could set it to the individual profile, if you are signed in, it displays "your" time...
