7.65mm. Mauser Banner

Gentlemen

Once again I am asking for your sage advice.I have in my hands a 1939 Mauser Banner in 7.65mm, a contract gun, about which I have three questions. The grips on this piece appear much darker on one side than the other,in fact the checkering appears a little different, both grips fit somewhat loosely. What does this do to the collector value? Am I correct in my understanding that 7.65mm 1939 Mausers are unusual? Finally, were these guns rust blued? Thanks for the help!

(1)-The grips should be close to the same color and should fit very well as they were hand fitted. They can be numbered inside with the last two digits or be blank. (These grips could be a couple of things -- reproductions, (which some on this forum say are not being used to deceive), or mis-matched originals.

(2)-The commercial guns were in either 7.65 or 9mm. Either is hard to find in a commercial gun.

(3)-Salt blue with blued or strawed small parts.

Ray, For more info, I suggest that you check Third Reich Lugers p197&8, and p219&20. Tom
